Herefordshire has a wealth of events throughout the year. We've selected some of the key ones here, and we'll be sharing other local events we come across on our social channels throughout the year.
Leominster Independent Day - Sat 11th March
Visit Leominster’s wealth of independent businesses and farmers market and meet the wonderful retailers and producers living and working locally.
There will be family activities, entertainment, live music from local buskers, promotions and treats for shoppers to enjoy as they wander through the lovely historic streets, popping into shops, pubs and cafes along the way.
Enjoy free parking in the (usually) pay and display car parks and take your time to explore Leominster.
Cathedral Spring Garden Opening - 17th March
On Friday 17 March, the beautiful gardens at Hereford Cathedral will be open to the public to explore. From 10am – 3pm, you will be able to see all of the hard work that has been undertaken by the volunteer gardeners before the gardens officially open for our summer tours and events. You are welcome to arrive at any point within the time slot.
Visit the Chapter House Garden, Cloister Garden and Canon’s Garden and meet the Cathedral Garden Guides who will be available across the day for guided tours. Guides will be located at the entrance to the Cloisters.
Tickets cost £6 and can be purchased in advance or via the Cathedral Shop.
St Michael’s Hospice Big Spring Walk - 26th March
Step into Spring with the St Michael’s Big Spring Walk on Sunday 26th March.
Hereford Rowing Club – and a new choice of routes, each taking in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside.
Choose from a 5.5K, 12.5K or 17.5K walk. All are circular, leading you back to Hereford Rowing Club where you’ll be able enjoy a performance from the Paws For Thought dog display team.
Entry to the Big Spring Walk is free for all those pre-registering before noon on Thursday 23rd March. On-the-day entry is via a £5 donation.
Kington Walks Spring Festival - 1-23rd April
Kington Walks Festival is held in September each year. By popular demand, however, the committee are introducing a Spring Weekend to give everyone a chance to experience the glorious countryside at a different time of year. Think daffodils, bluebells, wood anemones, lambs, and trees in bud and maybe blossom!
Kington is one of the great small market towns of Britain. Situated close to the Welsh border it was for centuries a centre for cattle drovers, so a web of footpaths and byways, accessible on foot from the town centre await discovery by present day walkers. The Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail, the Herefordshire Trail, Mortimer Trail from Ludlow, and the Wyche Way from Broadway all pass through (or start/finish) in the town.
CountryTastic - 6th April
CountryTastic returns to the Three Counties Showground this 6 April 2023. Visitors can expect an action-packed day of discovery with plenty of indoor and outdoor activities. Everyone’s favourite farmer from BBC Countryfile and the Cotswold Farm Park, Adam Henson will be headlining this year’s show.
Jam packed with interactive learning experiences, farmyard friends and oodles of countryside fun, CountryTastic is an unforgettable immersive day out aimed at children aged 5-11 years old taking place on the Thursday before Easter weekend.
Rossbeerfest - 29-30th April
Rossbeerfest is a beer and cider festival for Ross-on-Wye.
Showcasing locally made beers and ciders, it is planned to make improvements each year to make the event better each time! So it will always be new and improved!
There is a live band stage for music throughout and our huge marquees make an indoor ‘beerhall’ with a food tent alongside.
Organised by Ross Rotary and Ross Lions we also raise funds for charitable good causes.
Eastnor Castle Chilli Festival - 30 Apr-1st May
Hergest Croft Spring Fair - 1st May
Chance to purchase some Spring colour for your decking.
A wide range of nurseries selling rare and unusual plants, together with produce, craft and charity stalls.
Tea, cakes and light refreshments by Maples Tearooms.
Free admission to Season Ticket Holders and HHA Members.
Normal Admission Applies. 10 am to 5 pm. Under 16s Free.
RHS Malvern Spring Festival - 11-14th May
Set against the magnificent Malvern Hills, the RHS Malvern Spring Festival is packed with flowers, food, crafts and family fun. Hosted annually at Three Counties Showground in Malvern, RHS Malvern Spring Festival is a partnership between the Royal Horticultural Society, the world’s largest and most prestigious gardening charity, and Three Counties, a specialist rural event organiser and agricultural society dating back to 1797.
Whilst it is the gardening show for the Midlands and South West region, it attracts a national spotlight and offers unique engagement opportunities with an affluent and influential audience.
Hay Festival - 24th May-5th June
Book your event ticlets well in advance, or just go to Hay, and soak up the atmosphere. Hay Festival is the literary highlight of the UK’s cultural calendar, bringing together the greatest writers, thinkers and performers of the moment in a vibrant exchange of ideas and celebration of creative work for all ages.
Over 12 days, more than 200 acclaimed writers, global policy makers, historians, poets, pioneers and innovators join us to inspire, examine and entertain in events for all ages.
Hellens Garden Festival - 10-11th June
Hellens Garden Festival is an annual event, about discovering all that you can do with gardening and attending to the earth and environment. Believing that you can create and grow, wherever you live, whether you have a windowsill or a field. That working with Nature, can enhance biodiversity, learn valuable lessons and that being outdoors can improve our well being.
The theme for 2023 is ‘Transformation’ and there will be an inspiring program of talks, workshops, performance, children’s activities, music and much more.
Herefordshire Walking Festival - 17-25 June
Enjoy wonderful walks and amazing views this summer, join in the fun of The Herefordshire Walking Festival 2023.
Nine days – over 50 walks and one beautiful county to explore…
Herefordshire is fortunate to be surrounded by magnificent scenery – the Wye Valley AONB, The Offas Dyke, Malvern Hills AONB, Brecon Beacons National Park, Mortimer Forest and numerous Nature Reserves dotted all over the county.
Ledbury Poetry Festival 2023 - 30th June - 9th July
The biggest poetry festival in the UK features poets from all over the world. Inspiring, inclusive and international in its programme, everyone is welcome to this celebration of poetry.
The line-up includes live readings and conversations, workshops, music, exhibitions and films. There is lots on for the whole family too including children’s writers and events for schools and colleges.
Enjoy the Festival atmosphere with street performers and a whole day market celebration on the tenth and final day. Round-off your day with fabulous evening performances and slams.
